EveryDrop Refrigerator Water Filter: Everything You Need to Know
A refrigerator water filter offers a simple way to have fresh-tasting water and clean ice at home. For refrigerators that use an EveryDrop refrigerator water filter, changing the filter on schedule helps preserve water quality and allows the refrigerator’s water system to operate efficiently.
This guide explains how an EveryDrop water filter works, when it needs to be replaced, and how to select a compatible replacement.
What Is an EveryDrop Refrigerator Water Filter?
An EveryDrop refrigerator water filter is designed for use in many Whirlpool®, Maytag®, KitchenAid®, JennAir®, and Amana® refrigerators. Installed inside the refrigerator’s water system, it filters water before it reaches the dispenser and ice maker.
Depending on the filter model, an EveryDrop water filter can help reduce common impurities such as chlorine, unpleasant tastes and odors, sediment, and particles, providing cleaner, better-tasting water for everyday use.
Why Is Refrigerator Water Filter Replacement Important?
As water moves through the filter, contaminants build up gradually within the filter media. Eventually, that buildup can reduce filtration efficiency, affecting both water quality and flow.
Regularly replacing your refrigerator water filter helps to:
- Improve the taste of drinking water
- Produce cleaner ice
- Maintain consistent water flow
- Support the overall performance of your refrigerator
If the filter is not replaced, dispensing may slow down over time, and the water may develop unusual tastes or unpleasant odors.
How Often Should You Replace an EveryDrop Water Filter?
Most manufacturers recommend replacing a refrigerator water filter approximately every 6 months. However, the actual replacement interval depends on:
- Household water usage
- Local water quality
- Ice maker usage
- Filter capacity
If you notice reduced water flow, cloudy ice, unusual taste, or your refrigerator’s filter indicator light turns on, it may be time to install a new filter.
How to Replace an EveryDrop Refrigerator Water Filter
How you install an EveryDrop refrigerator water filter depends on the model of your refrigerator. Before changing it, check the owner’s manual or the filter’s installation instructions to make sure you follow the correct procedure.
